Take a closer look at Campingplatz Herbolzheim in Germany. With rolling hills, deep valleys and beautiful lakes all around, this small, authentic parc is perfect for walkers and cyclists. And if you like theme parks you’re definitely in the right place. Europa Park is a cluster of roller coasters and water slides, in what’s easily Germany’s biggest theme park. Its Rulantica indoor water park is a day’s fun in itself. Back on parc, the owners have designed your retreat to be quiet and restful, with grassy, terraced pitches offering views over the Black Forest. There is a great heated pool complex next door which opens in early May (there’s a small entrance fee for this). Herbolzheim itself, just a short walk or bus ride away, is well worth a visit for its charming, café-lined streets and souvenir shops.

Europa Park and Rulantica water world are just over 10km away at Rust. With two amazing theme parks in one there is something here for all ages. Further afield at Bergwelt Shauinsland, take a ride on Germany's longest cable car to the summit of this Freiburg mountain. At Freiburg im Breisgau you will find attractive squares and a large choice of shops, bars and restaurants as well as several museums and a cathedral. Located on the edge of the Black Forest it's in easy reach of the parc.
