Although the high mountains are located about ten kilometres from the campsite, camping Le Château de Rochetaillée is within easy reach. This small campsite is located in a wide valley at an altitude of 700m.
The campsite has lots of mature trees and is a very comfortable campsite. It is dominated by a stately old manor as it once belonged to the farm. The bar and restaurant are housed in the old manor. The centre of Le Bourg-d'Oisans is 7km away.
Le Bourg-d'Oisans is in a lovely area and located on the N91 between Grenoble and Briancon. It lies at the foot of the famous I'Alpe d'Huez mountain. This mountain is used as one of the stages by racing cyclists in the Tour de France. In the summer amateur cyclists can be seen trying to make the journey upwards, along twenty-one hairpin bends. Lots of people enjoy these mountains for the scenery, great walking and cycling route and the pure air. <
Enjoy a pleasant journey to Briancon across the Col du Lautaret. Other scenic drives lead across the Col du Galibier and the Col du Télégraphe. Snowy mountain peaks can be seen all over with some measuring more than 3500 metres high. Twenty kilometres south is the Massif des Ecrins with peaks measuring above 4000m high. The mountain range is a national park breathtaking glaciers and lots of interesting walking trails.
