campsite Domaine de Bréhadour, Pays de la Loire / Vendée
Domaine de Bréhadour a city campsite, but it's not really because although Domaine de Bréhadour is situated in the built-up area of Guérande, the real city is behind the imposing old walls. It's a nice spot on a summer evening and from the campsite it's only a couple of minutes' walk to the city. Even better, this is a peaceful campsite during the day and in the evenings, which makes this site a good choice for families with young children.
Good sports facilities like a swimming pool and tennis court. For children there's a small animal farm where goats' cheese is made.Very educational. The sandy beaches of La Baule are a few kilometres away.
Guérande is a photogenic, historic walled city that is often seen on posters. The Spanish conquest in the 14th century was the reason for building a solid, two metre thick and 1,5km long wall around the city that has four stronghold gates. The walls remain practically intact and are an impressive sight. The old houses, with their stone roofs and the cobblestone narrow streets, are reminders of its Celtic history. The city is also known for its organ concerts and salt factories.
Visit the salt museum Terre de Sel - a pleasant trip for the whole family. Enjoy day trips to the Brière nature reserve, the fishermen's resort of La Baule, Saint Nazaire and perhaps a trip to the nearby city of Nantes. This destination really has a lot to offer.
