Beschrijving
Camping de Grebbelinie near Renswoude (Utrecht province) offers a wonderfully spacious layout with pitches set on beautiful green fields. Its central location between two major nature reserves, the Veluwe and the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, is unbeatable. It is a paradise for cyclists and walkers looking to explore the Dutch countryside. Families with young children will have a great time here; there is a lovely swimming pond with a small sandy beach, perfect for cooling off in the summer.
Unique Glamping and History
The campsite has three sanitary blocks. For a unique stay, you can book special accommodation such as a Safari tent or an authentic 'Pipowagen' (Gypsy wagon). History buffs are in for a treat: the campsite is located directly on the 'Grebbelinie', a historic defensive line. Next door lies Fort Daatselaar. It offers a tangible glimpse into the past; you can still see the ramps where horses once hauled cannons and the central area that used to house tents for 625 soldiers.
Castles and Day Trips
Renswoude is a historic castle village. While the castle interior has limited opening hours, the gardens and the Grand Canal are perfect for a stroll. From the campsite, you can cycle to the magnificent Amerongen Castle and the Amerongse Berg hill. From Amerongen, take the little ferry across the Lower Rhine to the Betuwe region. For city trips, Amersfoort, Arnhem, and Utrecht are all well worth a visit. Families will love a day out at Ouwehands Zoo in Rhenen or Burgers' Zoo in Arnhem.
