Looking for a friendly family campsite on the Costa Brava, not far from Figueres? Mas Nou is a 4-star campsite close to the town of Castelló d’Empúries. The campsite has 300 pitches, all on flat ground, and it also rents out chalets and mobile homes. With the beach around 4 km away, it’s an ideal spot for a family holiday by the Mediterranean.
Well-kept, child-friendly facilities
On the colourful, green site, the reception building is on the right as you enter. It sets the tone: everything is neat and well maintained. Many pitches are shady. Opposite, you’ll find a stylish swimming pool with sun loungers. There are also several sports pitches where you can have a kickabout with friends. A supermarket is just around the corner — very handy. The campsite offers a bread roll service. And of course you can head to the beach too: the route goes via the marina town of Empuriabrava (the “Venice of Spain”).
In the evenings, there’s plenty of entertainment on the stage by the restaurant and bar, including karaoke, theatre shows, disco and animation — fun for the whole family!
Girona and other day trips
The historic city centre of Girona is about 50 km from the campsite. Wander through the old streets or enjoy tapas and paella on a terrace. You can shop in the many boutiques, for example along Rambla de la Llibertat. There’s also a large indoor shopping centre: Centro Commercial EspaiGirones (often shortened to “El Centre”).
Figueres is the birthplace and final resting place of the famous surrealist artist Salvador Dalí. Here, Dalí had the Teatre-Museu Dalí built in the old town theatre. You won’t have to search long for it: the striking building with its red tower and eggs on the roof is hard to miss. Not only can you see many of Dalí’s artworks, you can also visit his crypt. From Camping Mas Nou it’s only about a 20-minute drive to the museum.
