About Campsite Knaus Campingpark Walkenried in Walkenried
Campingpark Walkenried is set in the heart of rural Germany, in Lower Saxony, on the edge of the stunning Harz nature reserve with its endless forests, lakes, and rolling hills. The campsite features its own 0.3-hectare lake and a heated indoor swimming pool. It enjoys a peaceful location on the eastern edge of Walkenried in the southern Harz region. Both the Harz-Radrundweg cycle circuit and the Harzer Grenzweg long-distance walking trail run directly past the site, making it a true haven for walkers and cycling enthusiasts alike.
Swimming, walking, cycling: the choice is yours
Campsite Walkenried offers a complimentary indoor pool, ideal for a refreshing morning dip, while an excellent outdoor pool is situated just 6 kilometres away. By day, enjoy delightful walks through the surrounding woodlands, past rustic, almost medieval-feeling villages and ancient monasteries. In the evening, unwind by an open fire with a local woodsman’s speciality and a traditional regional drink. After a long hike, you can also fully recharge in the campsite’s sauna or solarium. For dinner, the on-site restaurant serves a delicious selection of German and Croatian dishes.

Looking for a more action-packed holiday? Roughly 16 kilometres from Campsite Walkenried, you can go sailing, windsurfing, or even scuba diving. Thrill-seekers will find a bike park with seven downhill trails just 18 kilometres away. If you are still craving adrenaline, head about 40 kilometres out to brave a zip line across a deep gorge (reaching speeds of up to 85 km/h) or take on a thrilling 43-metre abseil.
The centre of the climatic health resort of Walkenried is around 800 metres away. For cultural days out, consider visiting Goslar, Ilsenburg, the historic narrow-gauge railway up the Brocken, or Quedlinburg. The area's standout cultural highlight is located just 1.5 kilometres from the site: the Cistercian Museum at Walkenried Abbey, a magnificent monastery founded around 1127 by Countess Adelheid of Klettenberg.
