A warm welcome to Camping La Coste Rouge, situated in an endearing and open stretch of the southern French countryside that is usually blessed by the sun. Camping La Coste Rouge is a family-friendly campsite, located in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, near the Spanish border. The campsite is less than a mile from the sea, at the foot of the Albères Mountains. There’s a choice of activities for all the family, both on-site and close by. On the campsite you can enjoy dance nights, karaoke, table football, a games room, pool and lots more. There’s also a site-run children’s club (6-12 years) to keep the kids entertained. There’s also a bar-restaurant, snackbar, launderette, shop and shuttle bus to the beach available for guests.
You can cool off in the outdoor swimming pool or whizz down the water slides. There’s a paddling pool for the little ones as well as a children’s pool. For the grown-ups there’s also a sauna and Jacuzzi to relax in. If the beach is more your thing, then from 1 July to 31 August there’s a shuttle service to take you there for free (two departures each way per day). The evenings are when dance nights or karaoke is organised and there’s also a games hall, table tennis tables and an illuminated boules green.
Camping La Coste Rouge is also an excellent base for day trips to time-honoured Catalan villages and the lovely local Romanesque churches. You can visit Andorra for the day, or head off to Barcelona! If you’ve popped across to Spain, don’t miss out Figueras, home of the Salvador Dalí Museum. You might be very tempted to make the wine cellars of this region a port of call (and why not?): the local wines are, to say the least, renowned. The local area has plenty to offer: you can enjoy sea fishing, diving, go on underwater tours through the gorgeous nature reserve, take a boat trip between Argelès and Collioure, go off on a trail on foot or by mountain bike, and there’s a local water and amusement park, Lunapark.
The local area includes 4 miles of sandy beaches and 3 miles of rocky coastline, filled with coves and inlets. Less than 2 miles from the campsite is the village of Argelès-sur-Mer, where you’ll find plenty to do including Argelès Adventure, a high-wire forest adventure park with 120 different sections and a choice of difficulty levels.
If it's history and culture you're interested in then there’s the Casa de l’Albera, a renovated traditional house showing the history and heritage of Argelès. Other historical buildings worth a visit include the Château de Pujol and the Tour de Massane in Argelès-sur-Mer. Don’t miss the nearby charming Catalan villages, forts and towns including Villefranche de Conflent, the “fortified town”.
Located just 16 miles from the Spanish border and 31 miles from Figueras and the unmissable Dali museum, you can also take a trip to the wonderful city of Barcelona, 2 hours’ drive from Argelès where you can visit the Sagrada Familia, Gaudi’s must-see cathedral.
