A city campsite – yet not quite. Domaine de Bréhadour may be located within the built-up area of Guérande, but the true heart of the town lies inside its impressive medieval walls. On a warm summer’s evening, you can simply stroll from the campsite into the historic centre. Despite its convenient location, the campsite remains peaceful – even at night – making it an excellent choice for families with young children.
Play and water fun
The campsite offers a range of sporting facilities, including a swimming pool and a tennis court. Part of the pool is covered, ideal when the weather is less predictable. Children will enjoy the small animal park, where goat’s cheese is even produced – both fun and educational. During peak season, entertainment keeps everyone amused. For food and drinks, head to the on-site restaurant. The sandy beaches of La Baule are just 8 km away.
Discover historic Guérande
Guérande is a truly photogenic historic town, often featured on posters and postcards. Following the Spanish conquest in the 14th century, a 1.5-kilometre-long defensive wall with four fortified gates was constructed – and remains intact today. The slate-roofed houses and cobbled lanes evoke a Celtic past. The town is also famous for its salt production and organ concerts. The salt museum Terre de Sel makes a fascinating family outing.
Day trips to Parc naturel régional de Brière, the seaside resort of La Baule, Saint-Nazaire and even Nantes ensure a wonderfully varied family holiday.
