In the heart of the forests of Drenthe lies Vakantiepark Witterzomer. A beautifully located, child-friendly holiday park with plenty to do for both young and old. Witterzomer is home to one of the most welcoming campsites in Drenthe, where you can camp on spacious woodland pitches or choose fields where the pitches are arranged around small playgrounds.

The campsite is generously laid out and offers all modern comforts, including electricity, cable TV, water connections and well-maintained sanitary facilities. There are many play areas, and pets are welcome on a limited part of the campsite. Wireless internet is available in the holiday homes, hiker’s cabins, glamping tents and on selected camping fields.

Witterzomer is a true family park where children can play freely, swim in the natural swimming lake with sandy beach or enjoy the heated outdoor pool with its 45-metre-long water slide. Children can also race around on the go-karts available on the park. During the holiday periods, Witterzomer offers an extensive and exciting recreation programme.

At reception you can pick up beautiful cycling and walking routes. Bicycles can be hired for both adults and children, including child seats for the youngest guests. Witterzomer also features the indoor playground Skik, a perfect alternative on less sunny days. This covered play area is suitable for children aged 0–14 and divided into different age zones. While the children play, you can relax with a cup of coffee, or end the day with a meal in the restaurant. In the basement you’ll also find four bowling lanes — plenty of entertainment for everyone.

Witterzomer offers a wide range of accommodation options, including camping pitches with private sanitary facilities, fully equipped safari tents, holiday homes, group accommodations and chalets.

Drenthe – the walking and cycling province
Besides visiting the famous dolmens (hunebedden) and charming village greens, Drenthe offers many other activities. Borger is the heart of the dolmen region, with no fewer than 16 prehistoric burial monuments in the surrounding area. The province is criss-crossed by cycling and walking paths, and on rainy days the indoor play park Speelstad Oranje, just 14 km from the campsite, is a great option.

For a memorable family outing, visit the Boomkroonpad in the Gieten–Borger forestry area, the fairytale park Sprookjeshof Zuidlaren, or Wildlands Adventure Zoo in Emmen. Plenty of options for a fantastic holiday in the Netherlands.
