Camping Le Cormoran is one of those campsites where everything simply feels right: the sea close by, plenty of space, a welcoming atmosphere and surroundings that give your holiday that little bit extra. This friendly mid-sized family campsite with more than 350 pitches is set on the beautiful Cotentin Peninsula in Normandy. What also makes it special is that you can walk straight from the campsite to Utah Beach, one of the most significant beaches of the Second World War.
The wide golden sandy beach is literally just around the corner and is perfect for hours of play, blowing away the cobwebs and enjoying the real feeling of the coast. Thanks to the fresh sea breeze, it stays pleasant here in summer too, making this holiday destination especially appealing for families with young children.
Pool fun and relaxation
There is plenty of water fun to be had on the campsite. The pool complex includes heated indoor and outdoor pools, a fun waterslide and a shallow paddling pool for the youngest guests. Ready for a moment of peace and quiet? Then head to the wellness area with sauna and hot tub. Meanwhile, the children can have a great time with the entertainment programme, in the amphitheatre or at the small petting zoo. Active holidaymakers will also find plenty to enjoy, with football, table tennis, pétanque and yoga. And after a lovely holiday day, you can sit down in the restaurant for fresh Norman specialities, seafood or a crispy wood-fired pizza.
Impressive D-Day history
The campsite is a perfect base for discovering several historic D-Day locations. Utah Beach is right on the doorstep and just a few minutes away you will find the impressive Utah Beach Museum. This museum has been built on the original landing site, where you can also see an original B-26 bomber. A little further on, less than eleven kilometres away, lies the centre of authentic Sainte-Mère-Église. This was the first French town to be liberated at the time. The Airborne Museum here is highly recommended for an unforgettable day out.
The true Norman countryside
But Normandy offers far more than history alone. In the surrounding area, you will also discover the peaceful green Norman countryside, with wide meadows, apple orchards, dunes and charming villages. Ravenoville-Plage is close by and is a lovely spot for a long walk on the beach. Walkers and nature lovers will feel right at home here too, whether on the coastal paths or in the marshlands where you can spot unusual birdlife.
Camping Le Cormoran is therefore a wonderful destination for families who want to combine a beach holiday with culture, nature and good facilities on the campsite. Relaxing by the sea, enjoying great days out and discovering the good life in Normandy: you can do it all here.
