Les Almadies campsite welcomes you to eleven hectares of pleasant green surroundings in the southern Vendée region of France. The beaches of the resort of La Tranche-sur-Mer are just three kilometres from the campsite, which promises you a holiday in France full of both relaxation and activity. While the children are kept amused by the campsite’s mini-club, you can unwind in the spa pool and heated indoor swimming pool with slides and sun terrace. You can also take part in relaxing activities such as aqua-aerobics or in competitions such as petanque, basketball and table tennis.
The main draw of the area is the stunning coastline with miles of while sandy beaches. During July and August the campsite offers a free shuttle bus to the closest beach La Tranche sur Mer.
The area also offers horse riding, windsurfing and hiking. Everything is possible on the Atlantic coast! Children even have their own children’s pool. Les Almadies goes out of its way to ensure that your holiday is as comfortable as possible, and offers conveniences such as barbecue hire, cycle hire, a mini-market, restaurant and snackbar, plus internet access throughout the campsite, a bar with television and a free shuttle service to the beach and the centre of La Tranche-sur-Mer. If you’ve energy left after an eventful day, then evenings can be enjoyed with karaoke, on the dancefloor or relaxing with musical performances. It’s all here at Les Almadies!
La Tranche sur Mer is one of the region’s most popular resorts and it’s not hard to see why with 5 miles of white sandy beaches. The resort overlooks the Ile de Re. During peak season you can enjoy a boat tour around the Ile de Re and out to the impressive Fort Boyard. In the evenings the resort comes alive with live music and street entertainment.
La Rochelle is an hour’s drive away and is fascinating for a day out. Its historical past is very much evident in the fortresses that you can see, some of which you can visit. If you carry on a bit further you can reach the Ile de Re. This island is brilliant for cycling around and there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy delicious seafood here too.
The local area is good for keen cyclists with the Velodyssey passing through the region. The Velodyssey path runs down the whole of the French Atlantic coastline – meaning you can tackle a little of it, or a lot! Bikes can be hired from the campsite to get out and explore further. There are many spots en route that go close to the beaches where you can enjoy a cooling dip.
