Les Charmilles is a loverly, well maintained campsite situated amidst an oak wood, close to the charming town of Fouras. Domaine Les Charmilles sits on the Fouras peninsula, in the lee of the Île de Ré and Île d’Oléron. There is plenty here for every member of the family. For starters, there’s a fantastic leisure pool complex with indoor pool, outdoor pool, toddlers’ pool, water slides, bubble bath and more besides — one of the core elements of a great holiday! This campsite has an outstanding beach location.

You won’t be able to tear the children away from the play areas at Domaine Les Charmilles: there’s a playground where they can make new friends, and even a bouncy castle. The entertainment laid on for the little ones is great fun, too. But grown-ups are not left out at this campsite! There are plenty of activities to keep you occupied in the evenings, ones that every guest on the site can enjoy.

The town of Fouras, just 3km away, has five fantastic beaches – the biggest being the Grand Plage. This beach is great for children with its gently sloping shores and calm waters. For extra reassurance, the beach has lifeguards during July and August.

The surrounding area is rich: Fouras (3 km away) offers the most beautiful sandy beach on the peninsula. La Rochelle is within reach, too: famous for its old harbour, of course, but also for its medieval towers. Rochefort is absolutely worth visiting, as it is the home of Vauban fortress and the old royal ropeyards, which are brilliant to see. Bumble around the market before taking the boat down to the renowned Fort Boyard.
