The shallowness of the Lake of Soustons makes it a suitable place for sailing and surfing for novices. There’s some great fishing to be had at this lake, too. The area around Camping Azu’Rivage is brilliant for walking or cycling tours, particularly in the regional nature reserve, ‘Parc Naturel Régional des Landes de Gascogne.

Take a trip to the largest sand dune in Europe, Dune du Pyla, less than a couple of hours away, where you’ll experience spectacular views across the Arcachon Bay.

If you’re looking to relax by the beach, head to the local Atlantic beach, a surfing hotspot, perfect for catching some great waves. If you’d rather catch waves a bit further inland, then the region’s water park, Aqualand, is a great day out for all the family.
