Camping Le California is a pleasant campsite just 3 km away form the seaside resort St.Jean-de Monts. The campsite is situated in a 4.3-hectare pine forest, sheltered from the sea breeze by sand dunes. This is one of those idyllic locations where you awake to birdsong. You can count on the heated pool with slides and bubble bath being somewhere your children will want to go back to again and again while you relax in the sauna. The Camping Le California playground is a great hit with younger children, with plenty of climbing and swinging equipment to get your hands on.

You can also spend time in the games hall or do a spot of table tennis — and once you’ve had your fill of sport, bring on the entertainment team! Once you’ve worked up an appetite from all this activity, there’s a campsite restaurant if you don’t feel like cooking for yourself (although that’s perfectly possible, too). Camping Le California also has an on-site shop for groceries.

Saint-Jean-de-Monts is 4 miles from Camping California and offers a choice of activities, bars and restaurants. Foodies will love trying local specialties at the market including fionaïe (custard dessert), eels, caillebotte (curd cheese) and rata de margatte (calamari stew).

Saint-Jean-de-Monts has fabulous beaches. Stretching for 5 miles, the fine sand and calm water makes them perfect for younger children. The national forest of Pays de Monts expands over the dune and spreads over 16 miles between Fromentine in the North and the Sion Ocean in the south.

The surroundings are brilliant for cycling (bikes can be hired on site) and equally for walking — a stroll down the beach is very invigorating! St-Jean-des-Monts Market is fun to visit and there are extensive wetlands to visit nearby. Puy-du-Fou theme park (80 km / 50 miles away) is well worth the drive for the range of attractions it offers. You can also have a good evening out in this area.
