Campsite Port'land, Normandy

Camping Port'Land is a true paradise for those who love the sea, golf and history. It occupies a unique location near "Omaha Beach" where the Allied Forces landed in 1944 and next to the 27-hole Omaha Beach Golf Club. During the summer months beach lovers find their way to the fine sand beaches located 6 km further along the coast. However, you may prefer to stay at the campsite where you can enjoy the heated swimming pool, which is covered during the early and late seasons. Beginners' scuba diving lessons are given regularly in the swimming pool, even for children. The outdoor swimming pool also includes a children's pool, a jacuzzi and two water slides. You can also easily keep up you condition at this campsite, because there is a special fitness trail with various equipment running throughout the campsite. Also be sure to visit the restaurant on the first floor, even if just to enjoy the spectacular vistas over the sea on one side and the golf course on the other.

There's lots of water-based fun. A section of the pools can be covered and everyone will enjoy the water slides.
  • Sports fanatics will love the multi-sports ground where you can play football, volleyball and basketball. The campsite has a number of sm all, natural lakes, one of which is used for fishing.

Interested in the invasion beaches? You have a wide choice here including Omaha beach, Juno beach and Utah beach. The impressive monuments are very moving but Normandy is also a fantastic holiday setting for a complete change of pace.

Camping Port'Land is an ideal stepping off point for many excursions in the region. Visit the medieval town Bayeux with its fascinating labyrinth and old cathedral. Naturally you'll want to take a look at the famous tapestry made by Queen Mathilde and her ladies in waiting. Children will like Cité de la Mer near Cherbourg. It offers a view to the deep sea life, including a real submarine. A good viewing point is near Pointe de Hoc, an enormous cliff on the coastline.

And why not plan a visit to Caen, which was the capital city of the Duchy of Normandy under William the Conqueror? The beautiful castle in Caen is certainly worth a visit, as is the Museum of Fine Arts and the Norman Museum. Closer by the campsite you will find Arromanches 360, an impressive film shown on a 360° screen, in which D-Day images are combined with those from the present. Do you like to see and be seen as you stroll down the boulevard? Then why not pay a visit to the sophisticated seaside resort Deauville, where you can also do some sensational shopping? Planning to be at the campsite on 15 August? Then you will be there during the annual sea fête and the associated fireworks show in Port en Bessin.
