There are many campsites on the shores of Lago Maggiore, but there is only one that can call itself Camping Lago Maggiore. Although this family campsite is not as large as many of the other around the lake, it is definitely one of the most scenic. It has a well-maintained grassy sun bathing area beside the lake and some small beaches which are safe for small children. It's ideal for young families and there's plenty to do for teenagers. Next to the large pool is a terrace with a dance floor, where fun-filled evenings take place. There's a large shopping centre opposite the campsite and there's even more shops in Milan, just 65km from the campsite.

The southern edge of Lake Maggiore is surrounded by several other lakes that were orginally glacier lakes created in the ice age. This is also where the Ticino river begins its journey to the south. Its borders are a protected nature reserve and there are excellent walking and cycling paths here. Visit Somma Lombardo where pre-historic remains from early Italian history were discovered close the the 13th century Visconteo castle. The closest city along the lake north of Dormelletto is Arona, which is know for its huge bronze statue of Saint Carolus Borromeus that is 23m high. You can climb the stairs inside the statue for a great view of Angera castle on the opposite bank of the lake.

Ben je hier met jonge kinderen dan zit je goed. Het animatieteam is de hele dag tot 's avonds laat in de weer voor de jonge gasten. Genoeg en schoon sanitair. Er is een ook stuk op de camping met vaste plaatsen voor de Italianen, dit is een minder stuk vonden wij.

Ons verblijf in de mooie safaritent was op zich al een feest. Het meer is prachtig ook de leuke plaatsjes in de omgeving van Lago. Het zwembad is in het hoogseizoen te klein en de ligging van de camping aan een drukke weg vonden wij ook een minpunt. Animatie voor onze twee kleine meisjes helemaal top.

TIPS:

"Arona maar ook Milaan en Turijn zijn goed te doen."

Keurige camping. Onze kindjes vonden het nieuwe zwembad helemaal top. Onze lodgetent was een groot feest, zeker ook door onze fijne buren. Leuk professioneel animatieteam.

Voor onze kinderen was dit een fijne camping omdat er veel te doen was. De omgeving beetje saai. Onze accommodaties Lodgetent van Roan was echt goed en fijne ontvangst van tourioperator!

Op zich een nette camping, sanitair mag beter. Een leuk strandje bij het meer. Arona leuk plaatsje. Broodjes haal je bij de bakker en daarnaast zit een goede ijssalon. Wifi matig. Zwembad aan de kleine kant.

TIPS:

"Arona is een mooi plaatsje en vanaf de berg Monterosso heb je een prachtig uitzicht over het meer."

We hebben ons vermaakt op deze camping maar we houden het bij dit ene jaar. Mooie lodgetent maar staan zeer dicht op elkaar. Je kunt zien en ruiken wat de buren eten!! Voor onze zoon van 13 jaar niet veel te beleven. Geen winkel op de camping maar stad Arona op 3 km. afstand . Leuke plaats met diverse supermarkten.

"Met kabelbaan naar top van de berg Mottarone. Geweldig uitzicht."
